The only thing better than soft and glowing skin is the feeling you get when you make your own body scrub! (OK maybe they’re tied). Here is my famous recipe for do it yourself at-home body scrub in less than 5 minutes!
I use it in the shower or bath a couple of times a week and the coconut oil leaves my skin full of moisture and happiness!
What you need:
1 cup white sugar (Don’t worry we aren’t going to eat it)
¼ cup melted coconut oil
10 drops essential oils
What to do:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Yup that’s it! I bet you thought it was going to be difficult and maybe involve using some fancy kitchen machine that is hidden on the top shelf of your pantry. Nope. Just mix it in a bowl and scrub away. If you feel the mixture is a bit dry or a bit wet just simply play with the sugar and oil until you have the right consistency for you.
I store mine in a small jar (something waterproof) and it stays good for a few weeks. My favorite essential oils to use are chocolate, wild orange, lavender and peppermint. Depending on your mood, experiment and have fun!
Happy Mixing!
I love making my own body scrubs. I will have to try your recipe. I’ve made mine before with EVOO. I’ll have to try coconut oil. ☺ essential oils are a excellent way to boost and balance your energy. Xoxox Sarah e.
Thanks Sarah. Would you be willing to share some of your recipes on here for others to try too? What is your favourite?
Many of the simplest things bring the greatest pleasure! Thanks Dani, for this sweet simple recipe for soft healthy skin! Most appreciated 🙂
Hi Shirley,
I am glad you enjoyed the recipe! Now we can all have soft shinning skin:)
I make mine with baking soda and coconut oil. With or without Thieves or other Young Living essential oils. (I love the smell of Thieves but also just the coconut oil smell is nice too!)
Hi Joanne, Thanks for sharing your recipe! Great idea with using baking soda. I imagine this would be less abrasive than sugar on the skin and you could use it on softer areas such as the face. I have never tried Thieves before but I love all essential oils! So lovely:)
